    A rising high school senior from Delaware, Niyathi used her Aspire2STEAM scholarship funds to help her attend the Program in Mathematics for Young Scientists (PROMYS) at Boston University in Massachusetts. This highly acclaimed summer program, with a 5% acceptance rate, exposes and trains aspiring mathematicians about proofs and advanced number theory (the study of integers and arithmetic functions). She attended the program as a rising junior, and is currently participating in the program’s second year.

    Rising sophomore majoring in computer science at Howard University aspires to open doors for underrepresented minorities through coding education

    Liliann is Aspire2STEAM’s first LEGACY scholar, receiving a scholarship each year for up to five years. Her scholarship is sponsored by Jim Anthony, tech executive and cybersecurity leader, widely recognized for his special expertise in cloud, IaaS, security, hosting, colocation, and online services.  After sponsoring Liliann’s freshman year scholarship, it was Jim’s idea to provide continued support for Liliann, which served as the impetus behind the creation of Aspire2STEAM’s LEGACY scholarship.

    Aspiring women’s health physician makes an impact in her local community while advancing medical research

    Currently, Khushi has recently finished up her freshman year at Northeastern University where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a minor in Business Administration on the pre-med track. Within this highly selective and nationally accredited major, Khushi is able to learn more about two of her main passions in life—chemistry and biology. Her desire to help others, especially women, first started to grow in high school as she was able to be a part of programs such as the Academy of Medical Arts and as a volunteer with the March for Dimes. It was through her role as a March of Dimes Youth Leader at her local Boys and Girls Club, that she interacted with young children and aided them with their cognitive development. Concurrently, she helped raise money for the moms of these children to receive healthcare.

    Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce and Waubonsee Community College have partnered to create a leadership program designed to elevate career and personal growth

    Aspiring biomedical engineer turns personal loss into a deep desire to help heal the sick and injured

    Skye has an acute understanding of what it means to have access to medical treatment that improves one’s quality of life as her fraternal sister, Davie, was diagnosed with leukemia at a young age. Skye and Davie shared a close bond and as Davie’s disease progressed, Skye became more immersed in the medical devices and treatments used to fight leukemia. Each time she visited her sister at the hospital and saw the procedures her sister endured, she wished that the treatments would help her sister return to her typical fiery, happy self and give her more time with family. Sadly, Davie passed before the girls’ celebrated their thirteenth birthday.

    Jennifer Rodriguez is a Flutist and Music Educator. She graduated from Ball State University in Fall 2017 with a degree in Music Education. Upon graduation, Jennifer worked for the Muncie Symphony Orchestra as Assistant Education Coordinator and Classical Music Indy in Indianapolis as the organization’s Community Programs Assistant. She also had a thriving practice teaching private flute lessons and woodwind sectionals at Indianapolis area schools.

    Having a college education is an important value for Alyceson-Grace, which she shares with her family who are all educated with at least a bachelor’s degree. But a family tragedy, the sudden passing of her father, thrusted her into a situation where being able to afford a college education seemed out of reach…but not for long.

    Aspiring professional dancer and teacher learns life lessons through dance

    Kailey Tomas is the newest scholarship recipient from Aspire2STEAM, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to providing mentoring and scholarships to overlooked and underserved young women and girls interested in pursuing careers in STEAM. Kailey graduated from Warren High School in Downey, California, in 2016 and transferred to California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) from Long Beach City College in Fall 2020.

    Aspiring student startup founder aims to create financial tools for small business owners in the gig economy

    “Amrita Bhasin has an undeniable passion for start-ups and running her own enterprise,” said Cheryl O’Donoghue, CEO at Aspire2STEAM.org. “That, combined with her solid business and technology background and heart for creating solutions for small businesses in marginalized, low-income communities is laudable and, more importantly, needed.     Amrita grew up in Silicon Valley. Her interests in business and startups began early and her work has earned her several notable awards and recognition. She was one of only a few percent of selected applicants chosen to attend the 2020 and 2021 International Conference Business Today in New York City. She received full merit scholarships to attend conferences such as Tech Crunch Disrupt and Startup Grind.     Aspiring professional clarinetist promotes peace and understanding through performing music from Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan

    As an Iranian female artist, Paniz’s options to pursue advanced studies in her area of expertise—clarinet performance—were extremely limited after she received her bachelor’s degree from Tehran University of Art. She worked hard to research several options and received a lucky break when a teacher at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee (UWM) gave her an invitation letter to continue her clarinet performance education at the university. This act of kindness paved a path for Paniz to put into motion a dream to move to the United States to further her studies even though it was close to impossible for an Iranian to not only apply for, let alone be granted a U.S.

    As Kalani’s passion for business and social media marketing grew, so did her desire to serve others. In high school she served as Communications Officer for her school’s Self Love Club, which gave her the idea to start a
    virtual magazine called FOURALL that caters to Generation Z artists, activists, students, and others. Kalani is the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Intern Director, and Social Media Manager. She not only writes and edits pop-culture and social justice articles, she directs an international team of 15 creators (designers, writers, and social media resources) and even curates community art submissions.

    Rising freshman at Georgia Tech, Rajpoot is passionate about growing her expertise in computer science to address gender equality issues worldwide

    “Ayushi Rajpoot is one of those humans who sees a problem and is compelled to do something about it,” said Cheryl O’Donoghue, CEO at Aspire2STEAM.org. “During the pandemic she founded GirlsHack, a virtual program dedicated to empowering and supporting girls with a passion for computer science. Through her work with GirlsHack, her team uncovered that it was difficult to bring virtual coding camps and resources to girls without stable internet access. The disparity inspired Ayushi to work on solving the issue with the resources of the United Nations (UN) Foundation’s Girl Up Program.

    Nallamothu, a high school sophomore from Normal, Illinois, excels in coding and empowering young girls to pursue and persevere in tech-related studies

    “Sirihaasa Nallamothu is wired to learn, teach, and help others,” said Cheryl O’Donoghue, CEO at Aspire2STEAM.org. “At just 15 she already possesses a mind-boggling array of coding skills, many of which she taught herself; aspires to solve real and serious health problems facing the world today; and is a positive role model and teacher of girls both younger and older than herself.”

    Sirihaasa is also quite motivated. At the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, she was astounded by how long a family friend and others had to wait to get tested for COVID-19 and then get their results. She felt compelled to help create a faster diagnosis process, which led to her expanding her algorithm knowledge and creating a convolutional neural network (CNN) that uses lung x-ray images to determine whether the patient has Pneumonia, COVID-19 or is healthy. The CNN she created has applications for Leukemia and other diseases. Her hard work did not go unnoticed; she recently received a student research position with a professor at University of Illinois.

    Jyoti is finishing up her last weeks as a senior at Oak Grove High School in San Jose, California, dually enrolled in community college, and an incoming freshman at University of California, Berkeley. She was admitted to Berkeley’s dual degree program, Management Entrepreneurship and Technology (M.E.T.), and will major in Electrical Engineering and
    Computer Science (EECS) and Business Administration.

    Aspire2STEAM company officials announced that Neha Sujith will be its second “21 in ‘21” Annual Campaign scholarship recipient. Neha is a freshman at Texas A&M University at College Station in Texas. She is pursuing a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Computer Science with hopes to one day achieve a Master’s in Aerospace Engineering.
